Youth

Youth Group

First Church provides a safe environment where youth can build community, explore their knowledge and love of God, and serve others. Through our program, we believe youth will grow and root their lives in faith.

Our vision is to both challenge and encourage youth to participate in a relationship with God through healthy fun, inspiring learning, and social growth. We do this through Biblical teachings, mission trips, and discipleship groups where accountability, character, and care are integral. We also work collaboratively with the worship, music, and education teams to provide opportunities for youth involvement.

Summer Camps

Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center summer camp offers age specific programming to youth from kindergarten through high school for an awesome Christian, co-ed, residential camping experience.

Lazy F Camp and Retreat Center is a ministry of the United Methodist Church.  The Camp's mission is to be a sanctuary of hospitality, renewal, and learning with in God's natural world that celebrates diversity, inspires love and service, and fulfills our special partnership with local churches in the development of Christian disciples and spiritual leader.

Mission Trips

Throughout the year our youth participate in a variety of mission projects.  Past projects have included: mucking stalls at the Trusting Spirit Horse Rescue, deep-cleaning the nursery, doing yard work at the Mustard Seed Daycare Center, setting up teepee camp at Lazy F, preparing dinner for our congregation, and more.

Confirmation

Confirmation is a time when our youth explore their faith in a safe community. Through a series of faith exploration retreats, conversations with mentors, mission projects, and a confirmation celebration, youth will discover and experience their faith in a new way.  At the end of our program, each youth is given the option to become a member of the United Methodist Church.

The confirmation class is open to 7th-grade youth and older. Classes are offered every other year; the next session will begin in Fall 2026
