Sunday morning in worship is a great time to learn about a particular scripture passage. Some of us have created habits and carved out time to study more during the week. Others have us aren’t even sure where we’d start.
Here are some basic steps you can use with any scripture passage:
1) What stuck out to you from this passage/story?
2) Did this passage raise any questions for you?
3) Where do you see Christ in this passage?
(This may not be Jesus the person, especially if you’re reading in the Old Testament, but think about the things Jesus taught: grace, love, inclusion, redemption, forgiveness…. where do you see those things?)
4) What is one way (specifically) you could apply this passage/lesson to your life?
5) What is something you might share from this passage? With whom?
6) Why do you think this story was included? Or why does it matter in the whole of the Bible?
